The most promising F2 driver for the year Charles Leclerc says he is doing everything he can to realize his ambition of driving for Ferrari in F1.
Leclerc has so far got a record equalling six consecutive pole positions and five wins in the Formula 2 and he is 50 points ahead of his nearest competition.
The young Monégasque driver is enrolled in the Ferrari’s Driver Academy and got his first taste of F1’s 2017 car at the Hungary In season testing. He topped the lap times for the Italian team and says the extra media attention he got has not affected his focus to win the F2 title in his rookie season.
Talking to the official F1 website Leclerc said, “Seeing my name in the media more often and having it linked to Formula 1 and Ferrari is nice, but it’s not putting any extra pressure on me,”
“I am focusing on what I have to do with [F2 team] Prema, leaving others to think about my future.”
While all this goes on, he is working hard to impress the Ferrari team and hopes he can get an F1 seat in the next season.
“There’s never a day goes by when I don’t think about what I want to achieve and I always give 100 percent to get there. Being in Formula 1 is my dream and my goal and I am doing everything I can to make it happen.
“Racing for the Scuderia would be the realisation of a dream. But for now I have to focus solely on winning in F2, on giving it my all over the next few months. If I don’t succeed, then I won’t really go much further.”
