Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel’s partnership at Ferrari is free of “politics or other bullshit” according to the Finnish driver.
Recently, Vettel praised his current teammate once again, suggesting, he is the best person to partner with, at Ferrari.
This came right in the middle of the speculation that Sauber rookie Charles Leclerc may get a seat at the Italian outfit for next season.
The Iceman returned to Scuderia in 2014 and has not won a race till date. But his form has seen a tremendous improvement this season where he has scored five podium finishes before the summer break. It has been his best campaign after his 2007 title win.
Itali an media is reporting that Raikkonen may get another one year contract as Ferrari bosses would not want to make any major changes after Sergio Marchionne’s unexpected death.
There is still no clue on what would happen next year.
When we asked him to comment on Vettel’s recent praise, he told Sport Bild: “It’s better than if he would say that I’m an idiot! Actually, he says that also, but more rarely…
“Seriously, we have always got along well.
“With him, there are no politics or other bullshit but a totally normal friendship. Of course, I would like to stay but that is alone Ferrari’s decision. I wait for it same as you do.
“He is very straightforward and hasn’t changed with his success. Even when we sometimes crashed, it’s not a topic anymore after we talked about it.
“Also after our crash in Singapore 2017, there were neither discussions nor silence. He is a guy who can admit that it was his mistake and I’m the same. It is much better to work in this nice atmosphere. That also makes the car quicker than if we would be at war with each other.
“We both have the same aim: make Ferrari the world champion. We complete each other very well in our ways to push the team.”
