Formula One World champion Nico Rosberg feels that Ferrari will fall behind Mercedes in the race for development in the second half of the season.
Mercedes and Ferrari have been going toe to toe in the races so far with Ferrari’s Vettel winning four races and Mercedes’ Hamilton winning four and fellow driver Bottas winning two.
Mercedes is at the top of constructors standing with 357 points while Ferrari is at Number 2 with 318 points. But in the drivers’ championship, Ferrari’s Vettel is the leader with 202 points while Hamilton is the Number two at 188 points.
Speaking to Sport Bild, Rosberg said, “Ferrari have really done a great job over the winter. But now it will be a development race. I find it hard to believe that Ferrari can keep up.
“After Silverstone, I already thought: That’s it now, so I was surprised that Ferrari in Hungary hadn’t fallen back again.
“Spa would have to be a full-on Mercedes-track. Ferrari is unlikely to have a chance there.”
Commenting on Vettel’s aggression after the controversial Baku incident Rosberg said, “You know that he does not control his emotions,” he added. “In the short term and at the moment this may seem [like] a weakness – but over a whole season, this depravity can make the difference.”
But he also believes that it is good that championship is within a few points difference and it will lead to a competitive show on the tracks.
