Who would Haas hire for Support role?

American F1 team Haas is talking with Santino Ferrucci and Arjun Maini about a support driver role for the next racing season.

Ferrucci has been working as a development driver for the team since last two years, along with his pursuit of GP3 and F2 races.

He debuted in F2 last summer in Hungary, racing with the Trident team. The American scored four points and came 22nd in the race.

Maini entered Haas in 2017 to test the simulators, along with Ferrucci and took part in the several F1 races with the American outfit.

The Indian driver finished ninth in GP3 in 2017, racing for Jenzer Motorsport. He won one race and got another podium finish.

Haas issued a statement in Autosport: “Haas F1 Team is currently in discussions with Santino Ferrucci and Arjun Maini about their potential roles in 2018,”

“Santino has been a part of the team since 2016 and Arjun joined last year.

“The partnership has been beneficial for both drivers and for Haas F1 Team, and while it’s something we’re looking to continue in 2018, we’re not ready to announce anything yet.”

Recently, the team came under fire from IndyCar drivers when the team boss Gunther Steiner said that he is not comfortable in hiring drivers from the American series and placing them directly in F1. He also said getting an American driver is not a top priority for the team.
