Leclerc takes the lead in rain-hit FP3

Sauber’s Charles Leclerc was the pacesetter at the final practice run in the German Grand Prix as rain engulfed the Hockenheim circuit.

In all, only nine drivers set the laptime in the session as most of the cars stayed inside for the first half of the session.

Leclerc clocked his best time at 1’34.577 and was followed by teammate Marcus Ericsson who was 0.423s slower.

Sergey Sirotkin also succeeded in setting a time and came in the third in the timesheet.

Sebastian Vettel followed the Russian, setting 1’35.573 as his best time after five laps.

Toro Rosso driver Pierre Gasly was the fifth fastest on the timesheets. He was followed by fellow Toro Rosso driver Brendon Hartley.

Renault’s Nico Hulkenberg was the seventh fastest while Kimi Raikkonen and Lance Stroll were the last two drivers to set the time.

Most of the cars came out on the track only ten minutes before the end of the session time.

They expect rain to continue for the rest of the evening and it is likely to affect the qualifying round.
