Toro Rosso’s new challenger is here

Toro Rosso unveiled its 2019 Formula 1 car by postings pictures of the STR14 online, giving an idea of how the new aero changes will impact the design of the new car.

Haas, the American outfit became the first one to reveal their new challenger all covered in black, making it impossible to figure out much of the details of the VF-19.

The Honda-powered challenger from the Faenza based team was released Monday afternoon, displaying a significantly tweaked bargeboard. The team has retained its 2017 livery.

The Red Bull junior squad finished ninth in the team standings last year and will be using more parts from the senior outfit this season.

Toro Rosso team principal Franz Tost said: “The aim is to always improve in order to compete at the highest possible level and this winter we have worked intensively to bring a few organisational changes, which we hope will help smooth a few issues we experienced in the past.

“We have analysed all the internal procedures in order to optimise our strengths and minimise our weaknesses.

“Compared to other teams, Toro Rosso counts on a smaller number of people, but the synergies with Red Bull Technology for the non-listed parts, now that Red Bull will also be equipped with the Honda engine, will leave more time for our technical working groups to focus more on the details.

“Attention to detail makes the difference, and this translates to more performance.”

Parts related to the power unit will remain similar between Red Bull and Toro Rosso, he explained, adding rest of the components will be from the previous season.

“We have very good technical people to follow the in-house design, and the reliability of last year’s synergy project parts will put us in a more favourable situation to develop quicker during the season,” Tost added.
