When the news got out that Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff ran into Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel at an event on the Austrian slopes, Wolff predicted the headlines will read “Vettel to Mercedes”.
Wolff and Vettel met up at the skiing world cup event to enjoy their time off during the F1 winter break. They were seen along with Daimler CFO Bodo Uebber, which added fuel to the fire.
After being photographed, Wolff said he can predict the next day’s headline in the newspapers.
Speaking with Köln Express newspaper, Wolf said: “Now everyone will write ‘Vettel to Mercedes’!”
While the Mercedes boss enjoys publicity rumours, he was quick to clarify that the meet was personal and happened as they are neighbours in Switzerland.

Vettel has often been linked with Mercedes, more due to rumours than facts. Wolff was seen hanging out with Vettel during the German’s Birthday party in 2016 and ina few other social
Vettel won his last world championship in 2013 with Red Bull. He joined Ferrari in 2015 and won five grands prix last season.
The German world champion signed a new three-year deal with Scuderia in August 2017 and is locked up with the team until 2020.
Although it is unlikely that Vettel will move to Mercedes, we didn’t want to disappoint the Mercedes team boss.
